Dedication Planned For New Darien High Fitness Center DARIEN, Conn. -- The Blue Wave Booster Club will dedicate the school’s new fitness center at halftime of the Darien High School boys basketball game Friday. The Blue Wave meet Staples beginning at 7 p.m. The new facilities will be open for tours throughout the evening. Donors will be recognized with free admission. Blue Wave Booster Club Members get in free with their membership card. The first 50 students will be admitted free and given free spirit wear. The Darien High School softball team also will operate a concession stand with pizza and home-baked treats.

Young Wrestlers Jam Wilton Field House For Tournament WILTON, Conn. – The three-year-old Wilton Youth Wrestling Program has swiftly swelled to 70 members and last weekend hosted the town's first-ever youth tournament. More than 300 athletes and 600 spectators packed Zeoli Field House at Wilton High School for the tournament. Wilton had 45 athletes compete, and 10 earned gold medals. “It was a very successful day,’’ said Brian McGovern, the program’s head coach. “It was well-received by all. Wilton Boys Basketball Team Holds Off Stamford WILTON, Conn. – Wilton High School’s boys basketball team hit clutch free throws down the stretch and came up with a huge stop in the final seconds to defeat Stamford, 66-63, in a Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference game Tuesday. Max Maudsley scored 21 points to lead the Warriors, who improved to 6-5 overall and 4-5 in the conference. It was Wilton’s third win in four games. Stamford fell to 2-9 overall and 1-7 in the league. Stamford's Boys Basketball Team Nipped By Wilton STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford High School’s boys basketball team put forth one of its best efforts of the season Tuesday night, but came up short, 66-63, at Wilton. The loss was the fifth in six games for Stamford, which slipped to 2-9 overall and 1-8 in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference. Danbury Boys Basketball Shoots For Strong Second Half DANBURY, Conn. – Danbury High School boys basketball coach Casey Bock believes the Hatters have the talent to have a strong second half of the season. Weston Girls Learn Basketball From High School Players WESTON, Conn. – Future Weston High School girls basketball players learned from present team members during a clinic Monday. Record Field Runs Boston Buildup Race In Ridgefield RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – The largest field ever in the history of the 15-kilometer race of the 35-year-old Boston Buildup running series traveled the roads of Ridgefield on Sunday morning. There were 350 finishers in the race, breaking the old mark of 328 set in 2010. The weather was also the warmest on record for the race, as runners enjoyed temperatures in the mid-40s and dry conditions. Fairfield Runners Win Mile Races At Yale Meet FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Prep’s Christian Alvarado and Fairfield Warde’s Cate Allen sent loud messages with their wins in mile races Saturday at the Yale Invitational that they intend to be heard from as the indoor track season heads into the most important meets of the season. Alvarado, a junior, won the fastest boys heat in the mile, running 4:18.79. The time is the 11th fastest in the nation this winter, according to the website MileSplit.com.
