Ridgefield's Matt White Selected In Lacrosse Draft FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Ridgefield native Matt White and New Canaan’s Charlie Streep, both members of the men’s lacrosse team at the University of Virginia, were claimed by teams in the Major League Lacrosse Draft last week. White was drafted in the fourth round by the Charlotte Hounds. Streep was drafted in 2012 by the New York Lizards in the seventh round. The New York team retained his rights after he missed the 2012 season due to injury. White has 55 goals in 36 starts during his career at Virginia. Wilton Wahoos Take Honors At New York Swim Meet WILTON, Conn. – Swimmers from the Wilton Wahoos finished second in the boys division and third in girls team scoring at a recent meet in Nassau County in New York. The 13-and-over girls also won a team championship. The Wahoos sent a large group of swimmers ranging in ages 11 to 16 to swim at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. Westport Race To Battle Lyme Disease Planned For April WESTPORT, Conn. – The fifth annual Walk/Run to Bite Back For a Cure on behalf of the Tick-Borne Disease Alliance will be held April 7 at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. The event will raise funds to help fight Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses. Registration and check in will begin at 9:30 am. The event includes a 5K and 10K run, as well as walks of 1.5 and three miles within the park.  The races begin at 11 a.m. The walks begin at 11:15.
