But the impact he had on his players will be far more lasting. “He had the ability to connect with each and every individual,’’ said P.J. Prunty, who played as a running back for Davis from 2002-05. “I had him for math class, and it was the same thing. Stokes Steps Down As Trinity Football Coach STAMFORD, Conn. – Pete Stokes stepped down Thursday as coach of the Trinity Catholic High School football team, just two weeks after guiding the Crusaders to their first state playoff berth in 19 years. “Right now, I need to be with own my little ones for a while,’’ Stokes said. “It’s time to be Coach Dad instead of Coach Stokes.” Stokes compiled an 18-23 record in four years. Norwalk Cheerleaders Take 6th At Nationals NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk Packers finished sixth in the American Youth Football cheerleading championships last weekend in Kissimmee, Fla. The thirty-two member Packers team competed in the Division 13 Red Large division. A team from Brick, N.J. won the competition, which included eight squads. The Packers finished with a score of 137.2, just 10 points behind the third place team from Marlboro, N.J. The Packers comprised girls in grades six  to eight. It may have been his best month of racing in a year filled with highlights. On Nov. 4, Wynne became the first Staples runner since Tom Sheeran in 1988 to win the State Open championship. Wilton Runner Earns All-American Honors WILTON, Conn. – Angela Saidman of the Wilton Running Club earned All-American honors Saturday at the U.S.A. Track and Field Junior Olympic cross country championships in Albuquerque, N.M. Saidman finished seventh in the Midget Girls division for runners born in 2000 and 2001. Young Fairfield Runners Compete In National Race FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Two runners from Fairfield competed in the U.S.A. Track and Field Junior Olympic cross country national championships Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M. Brianna Auray finished 46th in the Youth Girls Division. Norwalk's Ripken, Cranbury Baseball Leagues To Merge NORWALK, Conn. – The Cranbury and Norwalk Cal Ripken baseball programs have played interleague games in recent years, and now they have decided to join forces in one league.
