Danbury Triathlon Moved To May, Road Race Canceled DANBURY, Conn. – Two events that have been part of the Danbury recreational sports landscape over the past few years will not occur in September as planned. The Hudson Valley Sprint Triathlon has been postponed to May 2013, while a 10-kilometer race sponsored by the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut has been canceled. Ridgefield Women Take Top Spots In Norwalk Races NORWALK, Conn. – Ridgefield women swept the top prizes Sunday in the inaugural Trifitness triathlon and duathlon at Shady Beach in Norwalk. The all-women’s event attracted more than 200 contestants, most of them from Fairfield County. Morgan Cotter, 40, ran to an easy victory in the triathlon in 53:11. Her training partner in Ridgefield, Sue Fleming, 42, won the duathlon. The triathlon included a half-mile swim, 11-mile bike ride and 3.1-mile run. Greenwich Native Runs To Victory In New Canaan NEW CANAAN, Conn. – More than 500 runners ran the All Out For Autism 5K race Friday in New Canaan. Greenwich native Alan Wells outran all of them. Wells cruised to the win in 16:47, setting a course record. The old mark was set last year by Darien's Ken Poli, who ran 17:24. Poli also won in 2010. New Canaan’s Olivia Hompe won the women’s division. Wells, who now lives in Florida, took control of the race early and won by a comfortable margin. Chinese Women's Hockey Team Playing In Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. – The Chinese Women’s National Ice Hockey team will play three games at Chelsea Piers Connecticut this weekend as it prepares to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics. The team includes Guilford’s Emily Yue of Guilford, a 14-year-old Chinese American who plays goalie for the Chinese team as they tour the New England area.
