46 Relay Teams Race In New Canaan's Waveny Park NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Runners of all ages and ability raced Tuesday night in the 6-kilometer team relay of the Cross Country Summer Series at Waveny Park in New Canaan. The first runners ran 1,000 meters, and the second runners followed with a 3K. The anchors finished up with a 2K. Teams were comprised of men, women, families and men and women. There were 46 teams. Several runners raced 1,000 meters in an individual race. The final race in the series is Tuesday at 7 p.m. and benefits the Jenny Crain Fund. Find out more about the series at clubct.org.

Easton Couple Serves For Tennis Title EASTON, Conn. – Easton’s Ed and Wendy Levine have been down the First Niagara Family Tennis road before. Never, however, have they gotten as far as they have this year. The Levines, who play out of Easton Racquet Club, will play for the husband-and-wife doubles championship Thursday in New Haven in the finals of the First Niagara Family Classic. The event runs in conjunction with the New Haven Open. When the Norwalk residents found out about Saturday’s Hands For Life event at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, they jumped at the opportunity to help make the event a success. Hands For Life will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Chelsea Piers. In 15 minutes, people can learn hands-only CPR. The objective is train 10,000 adults in CPR. Easton Triathlete Has Another Top Finish EASTON, Conn. – Easton triathlete Chris Thomas finished 11th overall and second among amateurs in the Ironman 70.3 mile Timberman race Sunday in Gilford, N.H. Thomas won the 40-44 age group, finishing in 4:15:6. He finished the 1.2-mile swim in 29:14, the 56-mile bike ride in 2:19:14 and the 13.1-mile run in 1:24.10. Earlier this summer, Thomas won the KIC It Triathlon in Stamford and also captured the Pat Griskus Olympic distance triathlon for a sixth straight year.
