Fairfield Prep Runners Set School Records FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Prep distance medley team finished ninth and shattered a school record in the New Balance Indoor track and field national championships last weekend at the Armory in New York. The team of Pat Corona, Adam Vare, Christian Alvarado and Connor Rog ran 10:17.95. During the course of the winter, the relay shaved more than 20 seconds off of the school mark. Rog added an eighth place finish in the two-mile run, setting a school record of 9:08.82. Early Registration for Pineapple Race Ends Soon FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Early bird registration for the Pineapple Classic 5K run to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society closes March 31. The race will be May 19 at the Greenwich Polo Club. The Hawaiian-themed run includes obstacles and post-race features, such as a beer garden, Hawaiian entertainment and a luau. In a new process for this year’s race, runners can register as an individual or as a team of two or more people. The early bird fee is $50 per person, $30 for children ages 18-and-under. Registration Opens for Kids Triathlon in Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. — Registration will open Thursday, March 15, for the KIC It Kids Triathlon, scheduled for June 30 at Cove Beach in Stamford. Organizers expect registration to double to 200 participants. Two age groups will race in two waves: Children ages 7 to 10 will complete in a 50-meter swim, a 2-mile bike course and a half-mile run. Fairfield County Skaters Win 3 Medals at Nationals FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The Skyliners Synchronized Skating team came home with three medals after the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships in Worcester, Mass., earlier this month. The Juvenile and Junior lines each earned silver medals, and the Intermediate line came in fourth to grab the pewter medal.
