Fairfield Prep Runners Set School Records FAIRFIELD, Conn. The Fairfield Prep distance medley team finished ninth and shattered a school record in the New Balance Indoor track and field national championships last weekend at the Armory in New York. The team of Pat Corona, Adam Vare, Christian Alvarado and Connor Rog ran 10:17.95. During the course of the winter, the relay shaved more than 20 seconds off of the school mark. Rog added an eighth place finish in the two-mile run, setting a school record of 9:08.82. He narrowly missed the state record of 9:08.75, which was set in 1975. Early Registration for Pineapple Race Ends Soon FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. Early bird registration for the Pineapple Classic 5K run to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society closes March 31. The race will be May 19 at the Greenwich Polo Club. The Hawaiian-themed run includes obstacles and post-race features, such as a beer garden, Hawaiian entertainment and a luau. Registration Opens for Kids Triathlon in Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. Registration will open Thursday, March 15, for the KIC It Kids Triathlon, scheduled for June 30 at Cove Beach in Stamford. Organizers expect registration to double to 200 participants. Two age groups will race in two waves: Children ages 7 to 10 will complete in a 50-meter swim, a 2-mile bike course and a half-mile run. Ex-McMahon Star Turns to Coaching in Fairfield FAIRFIELD, Conn. Dwight Vaughn created a lasting legacy as one of the best players in the history of Brien McMahon High School basketball. Now, hes hoping he can find the right spot to continue teaching the game he loves. Stamfords Jenna Lefort was named the winner of the Allyson Rioux Memorial Award in the senior division of the Stamford Youngtimers Girl Basketball League. Two Wilton Wrestlers Win Medals at New Englands WILTON, Conn. Wilton wrestlers Hans Forland and Zach Zeyher both took fourth place in the USA Wrestling Kids New England Classic Tournament in Coventry, R.I. Forland, a seventh-grader, placed third, and Zeyher, a sixth-grader, placed fourth in the USA Wrestling CT Kids State Wrestling Championship in New Haven in February to qualify for the New England meet. Stamford Junior Wrestlers Medal in New Englands STAMFORD, Conn. Three Stamford Junior Warriors wrestlers traveled to Coventry, R.I., to compete in the New England Championships. Westport's Women Officers Court Basketball Success WESTPORT, Conn. Ashley DelVecchio and Erin Shaw enforce the law in their jobs as Westport police officers. This winter, the young women kept order on the court as well as the co-coaches for a seventh-grade girls basketball team sponsored by the Westport Police Athletic League. Fairfield County Skaters Win 3 Medals at Nationals FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. The Skyliners Synchronized Skating team came home with three medals after the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships in Worcester, Mass., earlier this month. The Juvenile and Junior lines each earned silver medals, and the Intermediate line came in fourth to grab the pewter medal.
