Norwalk's Carver Boys Win Sixth-Grade Crown NORWALK, Conn. – The Carver Center sixth-grade boys' basketball team had several close calls in the Fairfield County Basketball League tournament. Sunday’s championship game was not one of them. The Norwalk-based team thumped Mount Vernon, N.Y., 46-29, to win the A bracket in the season-ending tournament. Carver needed overtime to defeat Darien in the quarterfinals, 66-64, and nipped Trumbull Gardens of Bridgeport, 57-55, in the semifinals. Wilton Girls Run Well at National Meet WILTON, Conn. -- Brynn Parsons and Kafesha Thomas of Wilton both competed in the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes at the New Balance Indoor Nationals for Emerging Elite athletes at The Amory in New York Parsons finished in 11th place overall in the 60M in a personal record time of 7.91, just missing the finals by .02 seconds. Girl on Easton Team Wins Basketball Skills Contest EASTON, Conn. – Julia Kinahan of the Redding-Easton Basketball Association won the fifth-grade girls speed dribbling championship in the Fairfield County Basketball League. Sunday's event was part of a series of skills competitions in the season-ending weekend for the league. Other contests were held in three-point shooting and 1-on-1. Kinahan helped her team win its bracket championship with a 29-11 win over Trumbull in Sunday’s championship game in Danbury.

Kings Win Darien Y House League Crown DARIEN, Conn. –  The Kings won the house league championship in the Darien YMCA basketball league with a two-point victory over the Heat. The Kings went 7-2 during the regular season before rolling off five straight playoff wins to win the seventh- and eighth-grade championship Sunday.  Players include Jack Klingman, Tommy Eppley, Brian Keating, Peter Mahoney, Connor Raymond, Dani Kelemen, Kevin Klingman,  Spencer Stovall and Robert Garrett.  Rick Klingman coached the team.
