Meet the Fairfield 7th-Grade Basketball Champions FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Red seventh-grade boys basketball team defeated Darien, 54-53, on Satuday to win the A bracket of the Fairfield County Basketball League playoffs. Fairfield finished 20-1 on the season under coach Billy Lovett. Team members include Phillip Vlandis, Patrick Harding, Andrew Rhode, Spencer Vlandis, Brendan Flynn, Patrick Steed, Charlie Hoover, J.J. Conway and Sean Conway.

Fairfield 7th-Grade Boys Team Wins Hoop Title FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield Red seventh-grade boys basketball team has trailed several times during its brilliant 20-1 season. So when the team trailed Darien for most of Saturday’s game in the Fairfield County Basketball League A bracket championship game, coach Billy Lovett stayed confident in his players. Lovett’s faith was rewarded, as Fairfield pulled out a dramatic 54-53 victory over Darien at Weston High School. The girls are coached by Erin Shaw and Ashley Delvecchio. Team members include Julia Brower, Virginia Gerig, Amelia Hunt, Grace McGinley, Morgan McWhirter, Claire Meehan, Charlotte Rossi, Rachel Seideman, Olivia Troy and Ashley Constantino. Tournament FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The Norwalk-based Everton America under-13 boys soccer team won the Manhattan Soccer Club Kick-Off Classic last weekend in New York, including a 5-1 win over World Class FC in the championship game. Everon went 1-1-1 in in the group stage, and fell behind World Class 1-0 in the final. Everton responded quickly, with three goals from Chris Was and one each from Austin De Silva and Cameron Okoro. Fairfield Runners Compete at Indoor Nationals FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield Warde’s Harry Warnick and Fairfield Prep’s Connor Rog will compete Sunday in the two-mile run at the New Balance Indoor Nationals at the Armory in New York. Warnick, who won the mile in the New England Indoor Track and Field Championships last Friday, will run in the first section of the race with 17 other runners. Rog will run in the second section with 13 other runners. Rog owns the state’s fastest time in event this winter, a 9:15.59 he ran at the Brooks Invitational Feb. 26.
