The eighht-grade boys team, two seventh-grade boys teams and the sixth-grade girls team from the Darien YMCA all will play for championships in the league’s season-ending weekend. The sixth-grade girls, coached by Katherine Begetis, meet Newtown in the A bracket championship at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ridgefield High School. This weekend, the team coached by Dwight Vaughn hopes to be hoisting the championship hardware in the Fairfield County Basketball League. Fairfield County Girls Hockey Team Aims for Title FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – The Mid Fairfield Stars under-12 girls hockey team begins play Friday in the New England Regional tournament in Exeter, N.H. The Stars, whose lineup includes girls from throughout Fairfield County, won the state championship and bring a record of 27-11 into Friday’s regional opener against New Hampshire. Weston Diver Takes Fourth at Class S Meet WESTON, Conn. – Weston junior Dean Rapp finished fourth Wednesday at the Class S diving championships at Plainville High School. Sophomore Misha Moffly finished ninth and Toby Gerroll finished 12th for the Trojans. Rapp received 301.5 points, while Moffly had 248.7 and Gerroll had 231.7. Brent Adams was named the ECAC Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday while John Snellman had his fourth hat trick of the year Wednesday in a 9-6 win against Quinnipiac.
