Fairfield Sixth-Grade Squad Falls to Darien FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A promising start to Saturday’s game against Darien collapsed under the weight of a stifling full-court press as the Fairfield Tigers sixth-grade boys team fell, 34-27, in a Fairfield County Basketball League game. Fairfield dropped to 1-4 on the season and 1-5 overall. If the boys continue to play as hard on defense as they did Saturday, more victories will undoubtedly come their way. Darien Sixth-Grade Girls Hold Off Norwalk DARIEN, Conn. – It appeared early on as if the Darien Blue sixth-grade girls basketball team would have an easy time against Norwalk in Saturday’s Fairfield County Basketball League game at Middlesex Middle School. Stamford opened the season with a 43-24 win over Brookfield. Conor Nicholson led all scorers with 13 points. Jahmani Thornton and Sam Lombino also played well offensively. Wilton 7th graders Nip Greenwich in Final Seconds WILTON, Conn. –  Joey McFadden’s layup as time expired gave the Wilton’s seventh grade boys basketball team a 30-29 over Greenwich in a Fairfield County Basketball League game. Wilton showed resilience and tenacity by coming from behind to earn the win. Greenwich scored the first eight points of the game and held the lead for most of the game.
