Weston Swimmer Qualifies for Olympic Trials WESTON, Conn. – Weston swimmer Shelby Fortin, a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania, qualified to compete in the trials for the U.S. Olympic team. Fortin qualified at the U.S. Winter Nationals last weekend in Atlanta in the 400 long course meter freestyle. Norwalk Girls Drop Season Opener NORWALK, Conn. – Emma Oyomba scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds for Norwalk as the Bears’ girls basketball team lost its season opener Wednesday night to Danbury, 58-28. Wheaton Women Shine on Basketball Court STAMFORD, Conn. – Former Trinity Catholic basketball player Jeana Trimboli is the No. 2 scorer on the women’s team at Wheaton College. The team includes Kristina Paolino of Trinity Catholic and Greenwich’s Jana Jagodzinski. Trimboli, a junior guard from Norwalk, has started all seven games for Wheaton (2-5) and is averaging 6.9 points per game. She had 11 points in a win over the Coast Guard on Nov. 30. Paolino, a senior, has played in six games for the Lyons, and Jagodzinski has played in all seven. Wheaton plays its next game Friday against Babson.

Former Brunswick Star Shines at New Hampshire GREENWICH, Conn. – Former Brunswick star Kevin Decker completed his season with a solid performance for the University of New Hampshire in a 26-25 loss to Montana State in the second round of the NCAA Division 1 FCS playoffs. Decker, a senior from Armonk, N.Y., threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Justin Mello with six seconds left to bring the Wildcats within a point.
