Ballo Makes Move in PGA Qualifying Play STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford golfer Mike Ballo Jr. bounced back in the second round of a PGA Tour qualifying tournament Thursday in Valdosta, Ga. Ballo shot a two-under-par 70 and stands at two-over 146 through 36 holes. He was in 46th place Thursday afternoon with many players still on the course. Ballo shot an opening round 76 that included eight bogeys and four birdies. In Thursday’s round, he had just two bogeys and made four birdies. Catch Highlights of Cross Country Championship NORWALK, Conn. – A brilliant duel between Staples' Henry Wynne and Fairfield Warde's Harry Warnick highlighted the boys cross country championship race Monday at Waveny Park in New Canaan. Wynne won the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference event by a mere two seconds over Warnick, who was the runner-up last year. Danbury's boys team won the team championship. Goalkeeper Svet Kozak made six saves for the Bears, who take a 14-1-1 record into the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference tournament. The Bears earned the top seed for the playoffs. Saugatuck Crew Takes 2nd at Charles Races WESTPORT, Conn. — Westport's Saugatuck Rowing Club Juniors produced solid results at last weekend's Head of the Charles Regatta. The Head of the Charles is one of the world's largest regattas, with competitions for youth, college and masters rowers. In the Women's Youth Double event, Saugatuck's Rosie Grinalds and Alex Zadravec placed second behind Switzerland's Lausanne Sports-Aviron in 19 minutes and 26 seconds.
