But the real winner Sunday was the Susannah Chase Memorial Scholarship Fund. Arrest Made in Death of Former Sacred Heart Star An arrest was made Monday in Romania in the killing of former Sacred Heart University basketball player Chauncey Hardy. He died Saturday after an altercation in a bar in the southern Romanian city of Giurgiu. Ionut Adrian Tanasoaia surrendered to police and will be in custody for 29 days while he awaits trial. Montessori School Plans Children's Harvest Fest Great Beginnings Montessori School holds its first annual Children’s Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Town Hall Green in Fairfield. The family friendly event will feature seasonal foods from local farms and businesses, as well as children's activities, music and entertainment. Great Beginnings is an independent, nonprofit Montessori school located on Beach Road in Fairfield. Admission to the event is $3 per person or $10 per family, and proceeds will benefit the the school's scholarship and facilities improvement funds.

Whitey's Fund Walk Scheduled for Cove Island STAMFORD, Conn. – The first annual Whitey’s Fund Walk, in memory of Peter “Whitey” Carlucci, will be held Sunday, Oct. 30, at 9 a.m. in Stamford's Cove Island Park. Walkers are asked to donate a minimum of $40. Children 12 and under are free. All money raised by the Whitey's Fund benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Connecticut Boat Club Rowers Start Strong FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Connecticut Boat Club rowers got the season off to a strong start Saturday with a win in the Varsity 8 at the Head of the Housatonic Regatta at Indian Wells State Park, Shelton. Despite losing 16 girls from last year’s team to graduation, Norwalk-based CBC came roaring out of the gate in its first fall competition.
