Wilton Swimmers Take 2nd at Nationals WILTON, Conn. Wilton Wahoo swimmers finished second in the women's 400-free relay and the team stood in second place midway through the YMCA Long Course National Championships in Atlanta. The 400-free relay of Katy Luchansky, Verity Abel, Grace Hendee and Maddy Smart swam 3:57.93. Luchansky also finished third in the 200 free and fourth in the 100 fly. Racing Resumes in Norwalk, Westport NORWALK, Conn. -- After a one-week heat delay, the Lightfoot Summer Series resumes at 8 a.m. Saturday with a 7-mile run at Brien McMahon High School. The Westport Summer Series continues on Saturday with a 4.7-mile run. There is also a 5K run Friday in Trumbull. The 7-miler at Brien McMahon is part of the five-race series sponsored by Norwalk Recreation and Parks and Norwalk-based Lightfoot Running Club. Norwalk 13s Host Babe Ruth Regional NORWALK, Conn. The Norwalk Babe Ruth 13-year-old baseball All-Stars won the District 1 tournament earlier this year. Saturday, they'll begin the journey that they hope will take them to the World Series next month in Clifton Park, N.Y. Norwalk begins the New England Regional tournament Saturday at 7 p.m. at Brien McMahon High School against Maine. If Norwalk wins, it advances to a game Sunday at 7 against the winner of a game between New Hampshire and Western Massachusetts. Norwalk 11s Stay Alive in State Tournament NORWALK, Conn. -- After suffering their first defeat of the year as an 11-year old all star team, the Cal Ripken Norwalk baseball team needed to make a statement on Thursday to stay alive in the state tournament. Its 14-4 win over Oxford did just that. The victory puts Norwalk in the championship bracket against rival Newtown. The teams play Friday at 5:30 in Danbury. Get Moving for National Dance Day STAMFORD, Conn. So, you think you can dance? Norwalk's Kristen Rzasa thinks so too, and she invites you to join her Saturday at the Church of the Archangels on Bedford Street in Stamford for National Dance Day. The day is intended to promote health and wellness nationwide. Saturday's event is free and starts at 11 a.m. The event is sponsored by Jazzercise, and no dance experience is necessary. Riptide Ready for Run at Regional NORWALK, Conn. After his 14-and-under softball team swept its state tournament, Norwalk Riptide manager Wally Hurd expects a more difficult challenge in the New England Regional that begins Friday in Lynn, Mass. Norwalk went 3-0 in the state tournament, outscoring opponents 48-4. The Riptide got off to a tremendous start in the states, as Amy Hurd and Ryan Lajoie pitched back-to-back no-hitters. Fairfield Routs Massachusetts in East Regional FAIRFIELD, Conn. Gabby Natoli pitched a one-hitter as the Fairfield Little League Girls Softball team routed Massachusetts, 7-0, on Thursday night to reach the semifinals of the East Regional in Bristol. Fairfield will play Maine in the New England championship game at 8 p.m. Friday. Sarah Cotto led the offense for Fairfield with two hits, three RBIs, three stolen bases and two runs scored. Stamford Junior Legion Rallies for Wild Win STAMFORD, Conn. The Stamford Junior American Legion baseball team rallied for five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday to stun West Hartford, 5-4, in the quarterfinals of the state tournament at Windsor Locks. The victory sends Stamford to the semifinals in Windsor Locks at 6 p.m. Friday against the winner of Thursday's late game between Trumbull and Southington.
