Fairfield Girls Roll to Another Easy Win FAIRFIELD, Conn. Through three games of the Eastern Regional tournament, the Fairfield Little League softball team is still awaiting its first challenge. Fairfield whipped Maine, 17-3, Monday in Bristol and goes for a sweep of New England Tuesday in a 7 p.m. game against Rhode Island. Gabby Natoli got the win, allowing one earned run over five innings while striking out seven. Alice Nelson led the offense with three hits, four runs scored and two RBIs. Stamford Junior Legion Runs to State Quarters STAMFORD, Conn. To stop the Stamford American Legion Junior baseball team in the state playoffs, its opponents must slow down Billy Druehl and the team's running game. Few have done it this season, and Enfield couldn't do it Monday. Druehl sparked Stamford's attack for the under-17 team with two hits, three stolen bases and two runs scored as Stamford advanced to the quarterfinals with a 10-0 victory that was stopped in the fifth inning via the mercy rule. Divers Battle on Boards in League Championships DARIEN, Conn. Divers from Darien swim clubs competed Monday at the Fairfield County Swimming League championships at the Patterson Club in Fairfield. Boys and girls competed on the 1- and 3-meter boards in 14-and-under and 17-and-under age groups. The 12-and-under championships will be held Aug. 6 at Burning Tree in Greenwich, and the 10-and-under championships will be held Aug. 11 at New Canaan Field Club. Enzor Hurls No-Hitter for Darien 13s DARIEN, Conn. -- Andrew Enzor pitched a no-hitter as the Darien 13-year-old baseball team defeated Easton on Saturday, 15-1. Enzor struck out five Easton batters. Michael O'Malley led the 14-hit attack with a double, home run and five RBIs. Jake Frasca, Jamie Schofield and Drew Costantino had two hits apiece. Enzor, Tyler Costantino, Brian Walsh, Stephen Barston, Jack O'Neill and Danny O'Boyle also contributed hits. The Darien 13s begin the I-84 League playoffs Monday. Norwalk 11s Win a Pair in State Tournament NORWALK, Conn. Norwalk's Cal Ripken 11-year-old All Stars opened the state tournament with two big wins over the weekend. They earned a day off Monday and will resume play Tuesday against archrival Newtown in a 7:30 p.m. game under the lights at Rogers Park in Danbury. The game is the winners' bracket final in the six-team, double-elimination tournament. If Norwalk wins, it will have to be beaten twice by the survivor of the losers' bracket.
