Stamford wasted an outstanding pitching performance by Peter Dawson, who pitched seven innings and allowed four unearned runs while striking out four. Nick Della Jacono and Chris Soule had two hits apiece for Stamford. John Slutsky also contributed a big RBI single in the fifth. Stamford Old Timers Salute Scholar Athletes The Stamford Old Timers Athletic Association presented scholarships to four high school seniors at its annual Scholar Athlete Dinner at the Italian Center. Scholarship recipients included Stamford High School's Chris Cavaliere, Westhill's Eileen Tublin, Trinity Catholic's Shilpa Kolli and King's Max Wardaki. The Old Timers gave Trinity Catholic football coach Pete Stokes the Mickey Lione Jr. Coach of the Year award. Darien Rugby Players Compete for State Team Members of the Darien High School Rugby Club represented Connecticut in the Under-19 New England Challenge Cup at the University of Massachusetts last Saturday. They were Chris Brook, J.J. Holmgren, Sam McCarthy, Jared Murphy and Christian Watson. The Under-19 Connecticut team emerged victorious in the tournament by defeating Massachusetts and Vermont. The Stingrays won their first three games before dropping the championship game to Wilton A, 3-0. The first contest saw Norwalk defeat New Milford, 2-1. Events such as Saturday's TennisFest 2011 at Intensity Tennis and Fitness in Norwalk help Oyebog's students reach their dreams.
