Forward Maeve Flaherty scored the first of her two goals off a throw in from center mid-fielder Natalie LaBella. Flaherty's next shot came assisted from forward Olivia Rosado. Laura Somma scored the third goal on a penalty kick. Rosado scored the first of her two goals next off a corner kick from Somma. Rosado scored again on an assist from Flaherty. Saugatuck Sends 7 Boats to Nationals Saugatuck Rowing Club won four races and qualified seven boats for next month's U.S. Youth Nationals with a strong performance at last weekend's Northeast Regionals on the Merrimack River in Massachusetts. "We were really happy with how the kids raced this weekend,'' Saugatuck coach Sharon Kriz said. "We knew the boats were moving fast and if we executed as planned we would qualify. But you have to be careful not to be too confident." The defending national champions in the Boys 2x, Weston's Graham Anderson and Westport's Max Meyer Bosse, won in 6:26.77, followed by GMS Rowing in 6:27.18. …

Connecticut Boat Club Wins 4 Golds at Regionals Connecticut Boat Club competed against and beat some of the best teams in the country at the Northeast Regional Championships held last weekend on the Merrimack River in Lowell, Mass. The top three boats in each varsity category earned bids to compete at next month’s Youth National Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn.   The CBC rowers brought home gold medals in the women’s varsity eight, varsity pair, novice four and 2nd eight. Westhill Runner Is League's Fastest Man Westhill High School senior Dillin Smith earned the title of the fastest man in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference at Tuesday's league championship meet — and even he was surprised. Smith won the 100 meters and came within a whisker of adding a gold medal in the 200. He finished second to Danbury's Dele Owoye. Winning the 100 was Smith's priority, however, and he outran Owoye and Greenwich's Tim Frazier to win in 11.085. Owoye was second in 11.09, and Frazier was third in 11.2. Weston Boys Finish 4th at SWC Track Meet Stephen Vento won the 1,600 and finished second in the 3,200 by a hair to lead Weston's boys track team to a fourth place finish at the South-West Conference track and field championships Tuesday night at Bethel High School. Weston Girls Repeat as League Track Champs Weston High’s girls track team won its sixth straight South-West Conference championship Monday night at Bethel High School. This one may have been its most unlikely. Kara Bucaro won the 800 and the 1,600 and ran a leg on the winning 4 x 400 relay for the Trojans, who compiled 108.25 points. They needed a late rally to overtake Joel Barlow High School, which led for most of the meet. Weston picked up 19 points in the triple jump, including a win in the event by Sarah Dietzman. Ex-Soccer Player Finds Success on the Links Dr. Lukas Konandreas' athletic career made a U-turn 33 years ago when he completed his medical residency. That’s when the former soccer player turned to golf—and today he’s at the top of his game. Konandreas, 66, was honored Monday by the Stamford Old Timers Association at its annual golf outing at E.
